This last weekend I went snowshoeing for the first time at Mt Rainier National Park. It was fun but tiring. I took quite a few pictures of the waterfalls etc. We started at Narada Falls and hiked up to Reflection Lakes. Not the longest hike in the world but fun. While we were there these little birds came in for a visit and I got some pretty good shots. I am not much of a bird person so I have no idea what kind they are but they definitely thought that we would be feeding them. They were landing on my friend's camera as a perch which allowed me to get quite close with my wide angle lens. I was literally only about a foot away. I huffed and puffed back to the road. I will defiantly be needing some conditioning training in the near future.
We hiked out and drove up to see the new visitor's center at Paradise. It was OK but I wasn't overly impressed. Apparently it is easier to heat and warm up the roof so that the snow continues to melt off and not collapse the roof. Although it has a more modern look to it, I didn't think it was any big deal.
I definitely will be going again sometime in the near future and would like to start at the Paradise parking lot and hike down in the Barn Flats area.
